A little bit about me...

I'm the product of an upbringing in somewhat rural Wisconsin.  For this reason, seeing Packer's jerseys, cheese, deer-hunting orange or dairy cows reminds me of home.  (I would also mention snow, but I don't see any of that in Uganda).  I attended Arrowhead High School in Hartland for four years, where I did nothing really spectacular aside from learning to drive,  learning to cook, losing and gaining 30 pounds, buying a car, and realizing that I wanted to be far from suburban life.  I then spent five and a half years at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, figuring out that I wanted to be a teacher, then changing my course of study so I could do so.  While attending UWM, I worked at a few different companies as a line therapist for children with autism, and absolutely loved it!  In 2009, someone mentioned that their cousin was going into the Peace Corps that December, which sparked my interest.  I didn't know people still did that, the whole Peace Corps thing.  I began to read a lot about it, and became obsessed with the idea of doing it myself.  Over the course of my last year of study, I slowly plodded away at the long application process, and in December of 2010, received an invitation to serve in Uganda as an Teacher Trainer!  So here I am, in Jinja, near the source of the Nile.  I blog far too much--I hope you enjoy what you find here!
